This meeting featured a special performance by Shane McKevitt, who is preparing for two competitions at Feis Ceoil, a major music festival in Dublin, Ireland. He entered two competitions: one for the Aileen Gore Cup (for recitals on a guitar or other string instrument); and one for the Guitar Bach Prize (two contrasting movements to be chosen from the Lute Suites, Violoncello Suites, or the Violin works by J.S. Bach). While these competitions can be very important in the musical career of many entrants, Shane says he is “treating it more as performance practice than anything else.
