Return to New York: Live, In-Person!

Every July, Mannes College hosts the internationally-recognized New York Guitar Seminar. This week of intensive technical and musical training in New York City is open to guitarists and music lovers of all ages and levels of skill. The faculty is composed of a dozen of the world’s top guitarists. There is an array of activities, with over 50 hours of programmed events. In addition to five faculty concerts, 100 master class lessons, and daily ensemble coaching by a dozen of the world’s greatest guitarists, the seminar provides multiple solo and ensemble performance opportunities for all participants as well as lectures and innovative workshops. All sessions are open to the public.

US Guitar Orchestra featuring Xavier Jara

The Aaron Shearer Foundation is pleased to present the 2nd US Guitar Orchestra. After a competitive audition process, members of the USGO were carefully chosen from a group of elite classical guitarists across the US.  World renowned guitarist Xavier Jara will be the 2022 guest artist performing world premieres by Kevin Callahan and Alan Hirsh. The concert also features works by Michael Hedges and Mark Charles Smith. Conductor, Dr. Kami Rowan, will lead the orchestra on a tour of Spain following the Merkin Hall premiere. The USGO is happy to welcome guest artists NJ Guitar Orchestra and NJMEA HS Honors Guitar Orchestra.
