Vikku Vinayakram and his family are the foremost percussionists of Carnatic (South Indian) music. Their rise to fame in the West came largely via involvement with the groups Shakti, Remember Shakti, Zakir Hussain’s Masters of Percussion and Mickey Hart’s Planet Drum.
